How to play Basketball

   How to play Basketball

The object of basketball is to throw the ball (basketball) into a hoop to score points. The game is played out on a rectangular court and depending on which section of court you successfully throw a ball into the basket will depend on how many points are scored. The ball can be moved around by dribbling or passing the ball.

At the end of the game, the team with the most points will declare who the winner is. Each team can have a maximum of 5 players on the court at any one time, substitutions can be made as many times as they wish within the game.

Each team has 24 seconds to at least shoot at the basket. A shot constitutes either going in the basket or hitting the rim of the basket. If after the shot is taken and the ball fails to go in the basket then the shot clock is restarted for another 24 seconds.

A  backcourt violation is called when the offence fails to bring the ball from the backcourt to the frontcourt within eight seconds after gaining possession. When the violation is called, the offence loses possession of the ball and the opposing team inbounds the ball from the sidelines.

In conclusion, basketball is very easy. All you need to know is the rules. The game of basketball has truly become global in the last few years. The game is currently popular in the United States. Also, it is described by many as an American game because of the fun and competitive.

The effects of deforestation on our planet (Explainnation)

The effects of deforestation on our planet

In 100 Years, there will be no Rainforest  Now, there is less than 10% left. Deforestation is when forests are converted for other purposes by cutting down the trees to clear the land for other use. With 7 billion people on the planet, we need more land to build cities, raise livestock and grow food. The loss of trees and other plant growth can cause climate change, the start of a desert, oil, fewer crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

People use wood for fuel also the soil for fossil fuels. There are 5 major rainforests that are getting cut down: Russia, Brazil, Canada, USA and more such as China.  Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world’s land area, but they are disappearing at an alarming rate.

Between 1990 and 2016, the world lost 502,000 miles and 1.3 million kilometres of forest, according to Google, an area larger than South Africa. Since humans started cutting down forests, 46 percent of trees have been logged, according to a Google site that Osheya Wilkinson read. About 17 percent of the Amazonian rainforest has been destroyed over the past 50 years, and losses recently have been on the rise.

That's because, starting in the late 1960s, Brazil began cutting down and burning forest at an alarming rate. An average of 137 species of life forms are driven into extinction every day in the world's tropical rainforests.  The forces of destruction such as logging, cattle ranching have all contributed to the loss of millions of acres of tropical rain An average of 137 species of life forms are driven into extinction every day in the world's tropical rainforests.

One of the most dangerous and unsettling effects of deforestation is the loss of animal and plant species due to their loss of habitat. 70% of land animals and plant species live in forests. The trees of the rainforest that provide shelter, some species also provide the canopy that regulates the temperature. In conclusion this very bad for the environment, so we need to stop, deforestation # STOP DEFORESTATION.

Why the moa became extinct (Explanation)

 Why the moa became extinct.

Maaori killed them for their flesh  which was eaten. Their feathers were used for clothes and their bones were used for hooks and pendants. Then, about 600 years ago, they  quickly went extinct. Their die off coincided with the arrival of the first humans on the islands in the late 13th century, and scientists have long wondered what role hunting by Homo sapiens..

Moa was a large, flightless bird that lived in New Zealand until 1400 years AD. There were around 11 species of moa, some of which appeared on the planet 2.4 million years ago. Moa had lived in the forests, scrublands, grasslands or upland habitats.  Moa were

able to reach 12 feet in height and up to 550 pounds of weight. It was one of the tallest birds that ever lived on the planet. Females were taller and heavier than males.  Haast's eagle and humans were the only enemies of moa.

The preserved stomach contents of the Giant Moa show that they snipped twigs off plants such as the daisy–bush, daisy bush , and ate them. They also ate berries and leaves. Like many birds, they had to swallow stones to grind up the food in the gizzard.

According to Maori tradition, moas were swift runners that defended themselves by kicking when cornered. Early Polynesian peoples hunted moas for food and made spear points, hooks, and ornaments from their bones and water carriers from their eggs. Although the larger moas probably became extinct by the end of the 17th century, a few smaller species may have survived into the 19th.

Narrative writing Frozen ocean.

Narrative writing

Frozen ocean.

Introduction: what is going to happen, outline of story
Paragraphs x3: each paragraph should have a main point.
One is a cargo ship which has containers full of apples. These apples are for the apple factory. The apple factory supplies an isolated school in a jungle for their students. There is also a commercial fishing boat. The commercial fishing boat catches fish for the isolated school too. And lastly, the cruise ship brings in tourists who help bring in money to the isolated town. However, supplies were running awfully low so the three ships had to take another route and get supplies from another area, which was Antartica.

On the way there they got stuck and one of the ships, the fishing boat hit a submerged iceberg. But luckily the other ships survived and tried to help them get free. The cargo ship was strong enough and pulled the fishing ship free. The people on the fishing boat felt joy and happiness until the cargo ship got stuck after getting pulled out of the submerged iceberg. The cargo ship is stuck in the ice. It's all up to the cruise and the commercial fishing boat to pull the cruise out of the ice  one to pull out first the cargo ship (strong) or the commercial fishing boat (fast).

The commercial fishing boat tries to get back to the island for help however there a big frozen ice storm the sky is black the wind strong the heail heavy, the waves were huge, the fishing gear goes overboard and captain fears for the safety of his crew they travel all night the sun rises right in front of them their filled with joy they go find help for their friends they get help and for that rest of that fixing the fishing boat and getting supplies like food,a rescue equipment, first aid kit and warm cloths now they’re on their way to rescue their friends.

6 hours in to there they notice changes, it's getting colder, the boats going slower and slower and it's extremely foggy BOOM the ship starts to smash through ice the fog starts to go away they see their friend surrounded by a frozen ocean.

THE FOREST OF DOOM!!!

THE FOREST OF DOOM!!!

When B.O.B arrived at the forest of doom they saw a wooden shack, they needed rest from a long day being on water. They scouted for danger in case there were traps that could kill them. They finished scouting the area, time to go inside being cautious for the traps inside they saw three beds. They woke up early in the morning to continue their journey. They stop for a quick snack break, they hadn't eaten since they were in the raft. When they finish eating they hear the leaves shaking like crazy, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM mines drop out of the tree BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky they survived that, remembering that one mistake they could die. Then they hear something ROAR, ROAR, ROAR, three dragons appear, so you know what time it is; minigun time!! The fight took awhile but B.O.B got back on track when they finally arrived at the other side of the forest of doom there was just more water. However, there was a boat this time with an engine. Where do they go now? Do they go back to the bay or continue the mission?

The Night Quest

The night quest

Ding! B.OB gets an email “meet at the lake Corona, no questions!” B.O.B hadn't seen each for more than 20+ years, the world had changed since they found the fossil when they were only ten. They hadn't talked to each other in all that time, yet they knew the mission. They knew they had to be careful, one mistake and they could all die. They jumped onto the raft, it was old and barely holding itself together. They pushed off the bank into the misty night. It was hard to see where they were going, visibility was low. Twenty minutes had passed when they started to hear weird noises (UDOUYIDFBF). B.O.B pulled out their mini guns ready to protect themselves, just then a huge blue dragon flew out from under the water. The trio start spraying their mini guns at the dragon's face. The mini guns destroyed the dragon and the body landed on the water which then flipped the boat over. Osheya flips the raft back over and they carry on with the journey to the forest of doom.

To be continued.

The fossil

Once upon a time there were three boys; Brodie,Osheya and Ben (B.O.B.) They were on a school trip and it was freezing outside. Everyone was in coats, they followed the guide to the fossil. Ben, Osheya and Brodie B.O.B decided to stay back. They saw three shovels, Osheya whispered “time to dig boys.” They start digging right next to the fossil. They found bone after bone, on and on for about six feet, then they started digging left and right finding other remains of the dinosaur that might be older than the first dinosaur that the guide showed them. Maybe triple the years! The first one was a million years old, so that's three million years old! This discovery was the best discovery in years. The people in town made a whole museum for just those two fossils. They thought that the first one was a t-rex and the other one was its father. This discovery earned $100k for the school, but B.O.B earned more, they made half a million dollars per person each.
The end.

Why the Treaty of Waitangi is important

The Treaty is the agreement signed by representatives of the Queen of England and leaders of most Māori tribes when Britain first claimed New Zealand in 1840. Accepting that Māori iwi (tribes) have the right to organize themselves, protect their way of life and to control the resources they own requiring the Government to act reasonably and in good faith towards Māori.
